STUCK IN CYNICISM AND OPPORTUNISM

2019-01-24

Once upon a time David Cameron called a referendum on the European Union with no other purpose than strengthening his position as Conservative leader against his challenger Boris Johnson; as a consequence the latter decided to support a Brexit. When a small majority came out in favor of Brexit, the two fled the scene, leaving Britain in - what has turned out - to be complete chaos. Theresa May, who voted for remaining in the EU, nevertheless was prepared to become Prime Minister in charge of achieving Brexit. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn also voted for remaining in the EU, but as chaos deepened, he only thought of how  to gain the same position of Prime Minister. The cynicism and opportunism of both politicians is shocking and self-defeating. It can, maybe, understood only by the willfull ignorance shown by British politicians and the electorate of what the European Union is and stands for.

The attached article makes it quite clear, but it is doubtfull whether its conclusion could work. After having been forced to deal with the impossible Brexit case, nobody in the European Union will be pleased to see Britain back into the European Union and undergo British obstruction for another 40 years.

Neither Justice nor Order

Footprints of the 20th Century - Third Edition

Description

This fifth and final volume offers a critical assessment of the state of the law of nations. In the twenty first century the world needs true global law anchored in the dignity of the human person rather than weak international law built on the interests of major sovereign states.

Footprints of the 20th Century - Third Edition

Description

The peaceful collapse of the Soviet totalitarian, communist system has been a watershed of historic proportions in Europe and the world. In 1989, unexpectedly, Communism and the Cold War were behind us, they were bad and should be forgotten. The immediate post-1989 world presented itself as a new era of organised forgetting, as neither East nor West were interested in examining the prolonged period of acquiescence in absurdities.
